On The Go – Atlanta, GA

Spread the love

Every so often it’s good to get off the rock and visit someplace else and when we do this we like to seek out the best places for beer!

I recently visited Atlanta, GA, which is a direct flight from Bermuda, and it offers a fabulous big city experience that of course includes lots of great beer.  Atlanta is known t’s many historic neighborhood and they all contain great pubs such as The Porter and Brick Store Pub. Food and dining in Altant si only second to that of New York and the city is littered with great beer restaurants such as Five Seasons.  But most importantly, the city is also home to an ever growing number of craft beer breweries, many of them with their own tasting rooms open to the public!

On this trip I visited one of the great beer restaurants of all time, Taco Mac, and also stopped by to sample the unique beers at the Monday Night Brewing tasting room.

Hands down Taco Mac is a beer lovers paradise! With over 100 beers on tap and even more in bottles this place has everything including limited edition and speciality beers. It’s hard working on your first visit to digest the beer list and make your selection but you’ll get the hang of it! 🙂 The food is standard american pub fare but if you’re looking for a suggestion I can highly recommend the Buffalo Tacos with TMI (Three Mile Island) sauce.

While tossing back a few pints at a great beer bar is awesome, drinking beer at the brewery is even better! Monday Night Brewing is located near the heart of downtown in an industrial area and has the best tap room in the whole city. With an amazing tap room and some of the friendliest people, and dogs, you’ll have a great time here. And you can’t go wrong as one of their slogans is “Tie One On!”

Just a heads up, when going to any brewery in Georgia you need to be sure to check their web site for tour and tasting times. This is due to Georgia’s antiquated beer laws and licensing. Also note that these tap rooms will not have food available but you are welcome to bring in your own.

One last beer note on Atlanta, if you’re looking for beer to bring back to Bermuda with you then be sure to stop by a chain of stores called Total Wine. While wine is in the name no one does beer better. They have multiple isles of mix and match beers and great prices so you can get the perfect selection to bring back home!
